Overview

Steve Harkins is an associate in the Atlanta office. He graduated, cum laude, from Arizona State University with a B.S. in Economics. He received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Washington and Lee University School of Law in 2012. During his time in law school, Mr. Harkins served as the Senior Articles Editor for the Washington and Lee Law Review and was elected to the Order of the Coif. He also received numerous moot court awards for oral advocacy and brief writing.
Mr. Harkins previously served as a staff attorney at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit in Atlanta. While there, he worked on a wide variety of federal appeals, including cases involving employment discrimination, mortgage foreclosure actions, civil rights claims, criminal appeals, and petitions for review from decisions of the Board of Immigration Appeals and U.S. Tax Court. During law school, he also worked at the Washington and Lee University Criminal Justice Clinic, the New York County District Attorney's Office and the Queens County District Attorney's Office.

Practice Areas

Professional Negligence / Medical Malpractice

Steve represents physicians, hospitals, nurses, and other medical staff in cases ranging from treatment of minor injuries to wrongful death. In addition to active litigation in this area, he works with health care providers to develop proactive measures and procedures to minimize risk.
