Ryan M. Donihue is a Partner in the HBS Atlanta office.
Mr. Donihue received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Puget Sound in 1997. He earned his Juris Doctor from New York Law School in 2000. He is admitted to practice in Georgia, Texas, New York and Connecticut.
Before joining the firm, Mr. Donihue was a Partner with Martin Clearwater & Bell, LLP, which was the oldest medical defense and health-care firm in the state of New York. He now focuses his practice on the defense of hospitals, physicians and nurses in birth trauma, catastrophic injury and complex malpractice actions. He is the co-leader of the dental practice group at HBS.
Additionally, Mr. Donihue represents dentists and other dental providers, podiatrists, psychologists and other health-care professionals in medical malpractice cases and related issues. He has extensive experience representing health-care professionals in disciplinary proceedings. Mr. Donihue also lectures on the defense of medical and dental malpractice actions to professionals, health-care institutions and insurance companies.
Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Donihue was an Assistant Corporation Counsel with the New York City Law Department, in the Medical Malpractice Unit of the Office of the Corporation Counsel.
Mr. Donihue focuses his practice on the defense of hospitals, physicians, midwives, nurses and institutional employees in birth trauma and catastrophic injury cases. He also represents and defends health-care institutions, private practices, physicians, psychologists, nurses, physician assistants, medical students and medical practice staff members in complex medical malpractice actions from inception through trial. Mr. Donihue has extensive experience representing health-care professionals before State Boards in licensing and disciplinary matters. Finally, he has lectured at hospital grand rounds, discussing the increasing trends in malpractice actions, state investigations and professional discipline cases.
Mr. Donihue has extensive experience representing podiatrists in malpractice actions. With the increasing trend of commencing malpractice suits against podiatrists and their practices, Mr. Donihue successfully defends podiatrists and their practices from the inception of the lawsuits through trial. Additionally, he often counsels podiatrists on ways to take affirmative steps in their practices to avoid potential malpractice actions and investigations from the State Board.
