Overview

W. Brent Hyde (Brent), a native of Tifton, Georgia, is a partner with Hall Booth Smith.  He attended both public and private schools in Tift County before attending what was then Valdosta State College.  Brent graduated from Valdosta State with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 1991 and obtained a Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.) in 1992.  While in college, he received his peace officer certification and worked full-time as a deputy sheriff. After receiving his M.P.A., Brent worked for the Tifton-Tift County Chamber of Commerce as both Community Development Manager and Acting Executive Vice President. Thereafter, he attended law school in Oklahoma where he received his Juris Doctor in May of 1997.

Brent practices primarily in the areas of professional negligence, medical malpractice defense, governmental liability, transportation, employment law, real estate, and civil litigation defense.  He is licensed to practice in both North Carolina and Georgia and practices in all State and Federal Courts in Georgia.  He is also admitted to the United States Supreme Court.

Aside from the practice of law, Brent is a part-time instructor at Abraham Baldwin College where he teaches various subjects within the Human Sciences Division.  As a certified peace officer with a background in law enforcement, Brent is also called upon by local law enforcement agencies and the South Georgia Police Academy to instruct law enforcement officers on topics such as courtroom demeanor and law enforcement liability issues.  Brent also serves as a legal advisor to the National Sheriff's Association.  Brent is married with two children; he is a member of Rotary of Tift County; and he is a board member with the Coastal Plain Chapter of the American Red Cross.
