Overview

Mr. Parkerson joined Hall Booth Smith’s international practice group in February 2012.  His practice focuses on general corporate counseling, particularly with respect to international business and related commercial transactions (distribution, agency, licensing, strategic alliances, JVs); international compliance (foreign corruption, export controls); laws applicable to import/export; international aviation liability; sustainable airport area development; and governmental affairs.   Parkerson’s expertise also supports his clients’ other international business needs as they enter foreign or local markets, whether foreign labor/employment, local contract issues, or regulatory/permit requirements. Prior to joining Hall Booth Smith, Parkerson was a Partner at FisherBroyles LLP.  He is admitted to practice law before all Georgia courts and the U.S. Supreme Court.
From 1993 until 2008, Parkerson was part of the international practice group within Delta Air Lines’ Law Department, advising senior management with regard to outbound legal issues ranging from foreign labor and employment issues to international aviation liability and anti-trust, as well as foreign corporate, regulatory, marketing and related business transactions.  Before joining Delta in 1993, Parkerson served as an Army Judge Advocate General (“JAG”) officer in a variety of international law military assignments, including Chief of the International Law Branch in the Office of The Judge Advocate General, The Pentagon; Associate Professor of Law at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point; U.S. Forces Europe legal liaison at the U.S. Embassy, Bonn; and international legal advisor at the U.S. Army’s European headquarters in Heidelberg.
In 2007, the Government of Hungary appointed Parkerson as its Honorary Consul for Georgia, Tennessee and the Carolinas.  In June 2013, Hungary added Honorary Foreign Economic Counselor to Parkerson’s titles for his expertise in that field; and it elevated his position this year to Honorary Consul General.  Parkerson also is an educator:  he is adjunct professor of Contracts Drafting at Emory University School of Law; and formerly was Clayton State University’s Director of International Programs and Assistant Professor of International Business/Global Logistics.   Parkerson also holds leadership roles in numerous civic and charitable organizations, including World Trade Center Atlanta, Georgia Council for International Visitors, Metro Atlanta Chamber’s Global Partners Council, Global Soap Project, Tropics Foundation, Carter Center Board of Advisors, and Atlantic Institute.
