Robert J. McCune brings 30 years of successful litigation practice, primarily first and third party insurance defense litigation, to HBS. Licensed in Georgia and North Carolina, Mr. McCune offers excellent counseling, facilitation and litigation skills to each case. His ability to listen with empathy and communicate with clarity, passion and vision helps him better serve his clients. Mr. McCune also has substantial appellate experience, including obtaining remand from the U.S. Supreme Court in Thomas vs. Am. Home Prods., 519 U.S. 913.
Before joining HBS, Mr. McCune was an Associate and Partner at Greer, Klosik, Daugherty,Swank and McCune, where he gained experience in the practice areas of Insurance Defense and Workers’ Compensation litigation. Mr. McCune’s extensive appellate experience includes preparation and/or supervision of more than 40 appellate cases. He is a registered Mediator in Georgia, and a Mediator in North Carolina.
Mr. McCune has extensive knowledge of appellate practice, procedure, and rules and has taken numerous cases to all levels of appeal through both the State and Federal courts.
Mr. McCune has experience in providing insurance coverage opinions. He represents insurance companies and is experienced in all aspects of insurance defense. Whether providing a coverage opinion or representation through the trial level, Mr. McCune is committed to providing quality representation to the client.
Mr. McCune has represented manufacturers and retailers in product liability claims, including a variety of cases involving diacetyl, mandolin slicing products, and pool manufacturing.
Mr. McCune’s 30 years of general liability experience includes the representation of restaurant and business owners in defense of slip and fall claims in a variety of contexts.
Mr. McCune’s experience in transportation litigation includes a wide array of clients, such as insurers, insureds and various self-insurance funds. Whether the claim involves property or personal injury aspects, his experience in insurance coverage, driver-fatigue, negligent entrustment, and driver employment issues has well prepared him to coordinate the various experts and investigators who are necessary in these cases that often have the possibility of huge losses.
