June 22,2017: The Atlanta office of HBS hosted meetings for a delegation of 7 Hungarian companies that are visiting the US in connection with the US Department of Commerce’s “SelectUSA.”  As Hungary’s Honorary Consul General and Foreign Economic Counselor for Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee, HBS attorney John Parkerson spoke on “Structuring the Business Relationship,” and HBS attorney Ashik Jahan provided an overview of “U.S. Immigration Considerations/Options for Foreign Companies.”  Other experts addressed topics such as workforce development, corporate strategies to accelerate growth, and accounting considerations. HBS partnered with the U.S. Commercial Service, Georgia Department of Economic Development and Metro Atlanta Chamber for this event, where each of the companies selected our region for future business expansion opportunities.

May 24, 2017: Brunswick Partner Beth Boone moderated a USLAW webinar from 1-2pm titled: Accident Analysis: The Who, What, Where, When and Whys of Causation. It addressed the causation inquiries into investigating an adverse event, including the use of biomechanical experts, with particular focus on situations and examples in which the cause or mechanism of the injury is not known or understood or disputed. The presentation addressed various scenarios from a risk management perspective and a litigation view, with explanations and input from several experts in the biomechanical field.

April 28, 2017: Hall Booth Smith, P.C. sponsored the 21st Annual Kids' Chance Tennis Tournament. Kids' Chance of Georgia works to provide scholarships for the children of injured Georgia workers. April 17-28, 2017: HBS participated in the Georgia Legal Food Frenzy. The Georgia Legal Food Frenzy benefited the Georgia Food Bank Association‘s eight regional Feeding America Food Banks. Collectively, they distribute more than 140 million pounds of food annually through a network of nearly 2,400 partner nonprofits with food assistance programs in all 159 counties in Georgia. April 26, 2017: HBS sponsored and attended the Georgia Justice Project Grass Roots Justice Awards event at The Commerce Club in Downtown Atlanta. April 21-24, 2017: HBS Columbus sponsored and participated in the Columbus Regional Health Foundation Celebrity Classic. Now in its 22nd year, this event offered an opportunity for golf and tennis enthusiasts to come together to support the John B. Amos Cancer Center. 
April 23, 2017: Hall Booth Smith, P.C. sponsored the 2017 WellStar Foundation Starlight Grand Slam Gala at the Coca-Cola Roxy Theatre in SunTrust Park. The sneak peak of SunTrust Park celebrated the many physicians, clinicians, volunteers and community philanthropists who are so dedicated to improving the health and well-being of our local communities. April 22, 2017: Hall Booth Smith Tifton sponsored the 2017 Girls on the Run 5K - Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. The event began at 8:00 am at the Hahira Community Center in Hahira, Georgia. April 10, 2017: International Business attorney and Honorary Consul General of Hungary John Parkerson served on a panel program for Kennesaw State University’s European Studies Symposium.  The topic was "The Freedom of Movement: the Consular Perspective".  Other panelists included Parkerson’s consular colleagues William Baets, General Consul of Belgium; Olaf Ladegast, Deputy Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany; and Bob Muscat, Honorary Consul, Republic of Malta.

March 1, 2017: HBS sponsored and participated in the Annual Bird Supper with Balch & Bingham. The event began at 6:30 pm and was held at the Trolley Barn located at 963 Edgewood Ave, NE Atlanta, GA. The Annual Bird Supper is a charity event that is held during the Georgia General Assembly Session, which started over 20 years ago. Donations and contributions supported Kids' Chance of Georgia, which is a nonprofit corporation developed by the Workers' Compensation Section of the State Bar of Georgia, in association with insurers, employers, attorneys, labor, medical, and rehabilitation groups.  The mission of Kids' Chance, Inc. is to provide financial scholarships for children of permanently or catastrophically injured or deceased workers to complete their education.

February 18, 2017: The Brunswick office sponsored and participated in the Annual Southeast Georgia Health System Bridge Run across the scenic Sidney Lanier Bridge in Brunswick, Georgia. The Sidney Lanier Bridge is 7,780 feet long, making the run both challenging and beautiful. The event benefited the Southeast Georgia Health System cancer programs, with proceeds going to patient services. 
February 17-18, 2017: HBS sponsored and attended the Georgia Organics Conference. The Annual Georgia Organics Conference and Expo is one of the largest of its kind in the Southeast. For more details, click here.

January 17, 2017: Michael Memberg spoke at the City of Waycross' Workers' Comp Education Campaign meeting. He spoke on current events at the State Board of Worker's Compensation and gave an update on the 2016 legislative changes. He was also part of an interactive panel presentation about recent decisions by the Georgia Court of Appeals and the Georgia Supreme Court.
January 10, 2017: Richard Sheinis spoke at the Netherlands American Chamber of Commerce Southeast lunch and learn from 12:00-1:30 pm. He spoke on the EU General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) and the EU/US Privacy Shield. 
November 18, 2016: Denise Spitalnick and Sam Sykes presented for the Associated General Contractors of Georgia. They spoke on "OSHA's Recordkeeping Requirements." 
November 4-6, 2016: Elizabeth Wharton was part of the Drone Law Panelist at the F3Expo, Guardian Centers in Perry, GA.

This annual event draws 1,400 men and women from the community and raises money for the Women’s Breast Cancer Fund. The event offers the inspirational story of a local survivor, along with entertainment and education to further the awareness of early detection and treatment of breast cancer. September 22, 2016: The HBS Birmingham office sponsored and attended the Pro Hops Vino! event from 6:00-9:00pm at the Alabama Ballet Center. The event benefits the Birmingham Bar Volunteer Lawyers Program, which helps attorneys provide free legal services to low-income citizens unable to afford attorneys who need help with civil legal problems. July 17, 2016: John E. Hall, Jr.  co-presented at the ACI’s 15th Annual Advanced Forum on Obstetric Malpractice Claims, and spoke  on the topic of  "Damages and Life Care Plans" in  Philadelphia, PA.
July 9, 2016: Elizabeth Wharton  spoke and hosted a drone technology panel discussion with Eric Hare, COO, of Talon Aerolytics, and Mark Bury, Deputy Chief Counsel for Enforcement and Regulations with the Federal Aviation Administration.  The panel was for the Southern States Energy Board's 2016 Briefing to Southern Legislators at the Lexington Convention Center, Lexington, Kentucky.
July 9, 2016: John Parkerson, HBS international business attorney and Honorary Consul General of Hungary, was the speaker at the Cleveland (Ohio) Hungarian Museum on July 9 to open a new multi-media exhibit titled “Vistas of Hungary.”  The speech highlighted many of the geographical, historical, architectural, and cultural “vistas” that Hungary offers.  
June 21, 2016: John E. Hall, Jr., presented on the topic of "Counsel's 'Baffle' Against the Surge of Inflated Damages" at the ATA Litigation Center's Forum for Motor Carrier General Counsel.
June 18, 2016: The Atlanta office of Hall Booth Smith participated in ServiceJuris, a Hands On Atlanta supported project from 9 am- 1 pm. Attorneys, summer associates, and legal professionals worked side by side tackling extensive renovation projects and helped to revitalize local schools, parks and community centers. ServiceJuris is planned and hosted by representatives of nearly 30 Atlanta law firms and legal service companies.

March 22, 2016: Of Counsel John Parkerson spoke on a panel program organized by World Affairs Council of Atlanta’s Young Leaders and the French-American Chamber of Commerce-Atlanta Chapter (“FACC-Atlanta”).  The event was held at the Atlanta Center for International Arbitration and Mediation at Georgia State University’s College of Law and is titled, “Keeping the Door Ajar? March 13, 2016: Hall Booth Smith sponsored and participated in the 32nd Annual Atlanta Community Food Bank Hunger Walk 5K on Sunday. The Hunger Walk/Run has united Atlantans of all ages and athletic backgrounds to support hunger and poverty relief. In 2015, more than 15,000 participants came together to raise over $800,000 to combat hunger in our community! HBS and the Food Bank have partnered together for many years to help support communities statewide.

March 8, 2016: Of Counsel John Parkerson was invited by Auburn University President Jay Gogue to meet with students and faculty who are engaged in Auburn’s international programs and to speak about current events in Hungary and Europe, such as the migrant humanitarian crisis, EU role and eastward expansion, NATO participation, etc.

March 2, 2016: HBS sponsored and participated in the Annual Bird Supper with Balch & Bingham. It is a charity event held during the Georgia General Assembly Session, which started over 20 years ago. Donations and contributions support Kids' Chance of Georgia, which is a nonprofit corporation developed by the Workers' Compensation Section of the State Bar of Georgia, in association with insurers, employers, attorneys, labor, medical, and rehabilitation groups.  The mission of Kids' Chance, Inc. is to provide financial scholarships for children of permanently or catastrophically injured or deceased workers to complete their education. 
February 29, 2016: Partner Drew Graham spoke at the Medical Malpractice Catastrophic Injury Conference in Philadelphia. February 28, 2016: HBS sponsored and participated in the Songs For Kids Foundation Food + Music Festival 2016.  The event included: food and drink tastings, live music from Yacht Rock Revue, live and silent auctions and more.  All proceeds benefited Songs For Kids Foundation and our work integrating musicians into the lives of kids facing illness and hardship.

February 13, 2016: The Brunswick office sponsored and participated in the Annual Southeast Georgia Health System Bridge Run across the scenic Sidney Lanier Bridge in Brunswick, Georgia. The Sidney Lanier Bridge is 7,780 feet long, making the run both challenging and beautiful. The event benefits the Southeast Georgia Health System cancer programs, with proceeds going to patient services. 
February 12, 2016: The Brunswick office hosted a Lunch & Learn with the Coastal Georgia Insurance Professionals/IAIP from 11:30- 1pm. The presentation was titled: Anatomy of a Lawsuit: Litigation 101 presented by Partner Beth Boone & Partner Audra Rizzi.
February 3-4, 2016: Attorney Elizabeth Wharton made a presentation at the 4th Annual “Unmanned Systems in Precision Agriculture Conference” at the UGA Tifton Campus Conference Center, hosted by the AUVSI Coastal Plain Chapter & AUVSI Atlanta Chapter.  Elizabeth's presentation is titled: “Preflight Checklist: Surveying the Legal Landscape”.  Other keynote presenters scheduled were -  State Rep. Jimmy Pruett, State Senator John Wilkinson, and Mike Wilson with the FAA. 
February 2, 2016: Charlotte Partner Richard Sheinis made a presentation at an Educational Breakfast Event hosted by Sterling Risk Advisors at the Capital City Club-Brookhaven. Mr. Sheinis spoke on "Privacy/Cyber Legal Issues in Private Practices." HBS participated in the American Correctional Association 2016 Winter Conference in New Orleans, LA.
