Jeffrey Daniel comes to us with many different internship and academic experiences that have prepared him to serve our clients well. Following his first year of law school, he clerked for the Federal Defenders of the Middle District of Georgia, Inc. During his second year, he served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Marc T. Treadwell in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Georgia. He then joined HBS in 2012 as a Summer Associate. Based on his excellent performance, we were pleased to offer him a full-time position with our firm. Jeffrey graduated Cum Laude with his Juris Doctor from Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University. Following graduation, he was inducted into the Brainerd Currie Honor Society for his outstanding academic achievement and service to the law school. During law school, he served on the Mercer Law Review. For excelling in Trial Practice, Evidence, and Civil Procedure courses, he received the Student Advocacy Award from the International Academy of Trial Lawyers. Prior to law school, Jeffrey earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Georgia, where he served on the University of Georgia Judiciary. At HBS, he will be defending primarily medical malpractice, dental malpractice, and general liability claims.
Ariel Adams has proved extremely capable in her past internships and assistantships. In 2008, Ariel joined HBS as a Management and Paralegal Assistant working with us for many years. She assisted in many different parts of trial preparation, organizing and coordinating witnesses, and medical records and other files, along with managing office facilities and handling vendor contracts. While pursuing her Juris Doctor at Seton Hall University School of Law in Newark, New Jersey, she served in two judicial internships: first, in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division in Newark, where she worked with the Honorable Jerome M. St John; and second with the Honorable Madeline Cox Arleo in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. Ariel worked as a summer associate at Tomkins, McGuire, Wachenfeld & Barry, in Newark. She received her Bachelors of Arts in Management from Goucher College in Towson, Maryland.
Andrew Hazen has a wonderful variety of experience to bring to HBS. He has served in eight different internships, externships, summer associate positions and clerk positions in the last few years. During law school, Andrew prosecuted misdemeanors under Georgia’s Third-Year Practice Act at the Fulton County Solicitor’s Office; worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at Georgia State University’s Office of Legal Affairs; interned with the Health Law Partnership at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta; and externed with the Honorable Justice P. Harris Hines of the Georgia Supreme Court. Andrew received his A.B. in Religion from Davidson College, attended Emory University: Candler School of Theology for Graduate Studies in Theology, and received his Juris Doctor, Cum Laude, from Georgia State University College of Law, where he was a member of the Law Review and the Logan E. Bleckley Inn of Court.
Jacquelyn Smith earned her Juris Doctorate from the Walter F. George School of Law where she graduated in the top 10% of her class. She attended Berry College for her undergraduate studies, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Government and Philosophy, magna cum laude, and served as a Research Assistant. She was also very involved in community service through the Bonner Scholar Program and served as the captain for the women’s running team. In law school, she was a member of the Mercer Law Review, the Journal of Southern Legal History, and the Mercer Advocacy Council. She competed in two national moot court competitions where she gained valuable experience as an oral advocate and brief captain that will serve our clients well. Jacquelyn also coordinated the student mentor program at Mercer and received the Dean’s Award for Distinguished Service to the Law School. She is also published in the Mercer Law Review. She spent her summers with the Georgia Innocence Project where she received the Equal Justice Works Education Award for public service and as a Summer Associate with HBS. We are pleased to announce that Jacquelyn will be joining the Professional Negligence, Construction, and Medical Malpractice groups.
