General Craig McKinley, Chief of the National Guard Bureau, has appointed Brigadier Robert L. Shannon, Jr. Vice Commander of the Georgia Air National Guard to the newly formed National Guard Joint Diversity Council  in Washington, D.C.  The Council was established to review, develop, recommend, and advise National Guard leadership on a wide range of issues regarding diversity and equal opportunity within the National Guard.  The Council will also review "best practices" within the private sector of America's top corporations.  The National Guard is comprised of almost 360,000 soldiers of  the Army National Guard and 109,000 airmen of the Air National Guard.
