Workers’ Compensation

David S. Dix is a Partner in the HBS Atlanta office.

Mr. Dix earned his Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Economics, from the University of Michigan in 2003. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Georgia School of Law in 2007, graduating cum laude.

During his career, Mr. Dix has practiced almost exclusively in workers’ compensation. He defends insurers, third-party administrators, self-insured individuals and employers in all areas of workers’ compensation and in all stages of litigation. His practice serves both regional and national clients who have a presence in Georgia.

Mr. Dix has represented some of Georgia’s largest employers. He has extensive, valuable experience representing clients in various industries, including industrial manufacturing, logistics, aviation, utilities, transportation, restaurants and health care. He also regularly handles coverage dispute claims.

He has taken hundreds of depositions, including many expert witnesses dealing with complex medical, scientific, economic and vocational issues. He has successfully argued cases before the State Board of Workers’ Compensation, as well as appeals before the Appellate Division and various Superior Courts.

Mr. Dix guides his clients through problematic and difficult cases that are not in litigation. His experience includes identifying leverage and other cost-savings measures. He applies his knowledge in workers’ compensation to assist business clients in identifying potential pitfalls, and how best to navigate complicated legal requirements in order to minimize exposure and avoid litigation before on-the-job accidents happen. In addition to his practice, Mr. Dix writes blog posts detailing successful approaches to workers’ compensation issues.
