Experience

Aging Services

Jeffery represents skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, personal care homes, mobile radiology providers, home health agencies, rehabilitation providers, and provider agencies in the defense of wrongful death and elder abuse claims.

Because federal and state government involvement in regulation of aging services is significantly more aggressive than in any other segment of the health care delivery system, the aging services industry has come to be called in government lingo what is known as a “closely regulated business.” Jeffery understands the liability implications created by this heightened regulatory environment and his knowledge and familiarity with both the business and personal side of the long term care industry makes him an invaluable asset.

Representative Experience:

  • Defended assisted living and personal care homes in matters focused on behavioral health and memory care.
  • Defended numerous nursing homes and personal care homes in matters involving pressure injuries, claims of insufficient record keep, and lack of care resulting in injury and death.
  • Defended numerous nursing home, personal care homes, and provider agencies in matters involving falls, lack of safety precautions, and assignment to inappropriate level of care.

General Liability

Because of his extensive litigation experience, Jeffery has continually represented insurance companies and their insureds in a myriad of matters ranging from general negligence, premise liability, and product liability claims. Jeffery’s ability to litigate any and all types of matters makes him an invaluable tool when it comes to clients’ ever evolving legal needs.

Labor & Employment

Beginning his career as a part of a firm focusing on both labor and employment and health care, Jeffery has litigated labor and employment cases for over 15 years. He has successfully represented clients in the resolution and defense of all forms of employment litigation claims, including claims based on age, gender, race, and disabilities.

Medical Malpractice

Beginning his career as a part of a health care firm, Jeffery has over 20-years’ experience in representing physicians in patient care licensing complaints and representing hospitals, physicians, and nurses in the defense of medical negligence claims. Jeffery believes that “you must learn the medicine” of each individual case, as nuance prevails and a cookie cutter approach always fails.
