Robert J. Kaufman is a Partner in our Atlanta office, and he is a veteran trial attorney with four decades of litigation experience. He concentrates his national practice on business transactions and litigation, corporate and partnership matters, and general liability. He also has an extensive practice in wills, trusts, estate planning and administration.

Robert has tried numerous cases and argued appeals in federal courts as well as state courts in Georgia and elsewhere across the United States. He has won many verdicts, judgments and settlements in excess of $1 million, and has represented clients on high-exposure and high-risk cases in courts across the nation.

His litigation experience includes a wide range of business disputes such as breach of contract, intellectual property, restrictive covenants, breach of fiduciary duty, construction litigation, injunctions, securities law, tort claims, and franchise litigation. He also counsels clients on transactional and corporate matters such as mergers and acquisitions, contracts, and asset purchase agreements.

Robert assists clients with all of their estate planning needs, including wills, trusts, and administration, as well as domestic relations issues.

Before joining Hall Booth Smith, Robert was a founding member and president of the Kaufman & Kaufman law firm, which he led for more than three decades. He has served as an adjunct professor at Emory University for two decades, and teaches in the trial techniques program that is required for all second-year law students.

Robert earned a Juris Doctorate degree from Emory University School of Law, and a Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, at the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
