John E. Parkerson, Jr.Joins the Firm as of Counsel
Hall Booth Smith (HBS) is proud to announce Mr. John E. Parkerson, Jr. joined the firm as of Counsel on February 16, 2012. In this role, Mr. Parkerson will focus on general corporate counseling as well as on international transactions. “John expands the expertise of the firm in ways that make us more valuable to our clients and better able to serve them. Better yet, he is a good man and we are honored to serve with him,” said John E. Hall Jr., founding Partner of HBS.
Prior to joining HBS, Mr. Parkerson was a Partner at FSB FisherBroyles LLP and served as international counsel for Delta Air Lines. He also held a number of prestigious military assignments including: Chief of the International Law Branch in the Office of the Judge Advocate General, Associate Professor of Law at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, U.S. Forces Europe legal liaison at the U.S. Embassy in Bonn, and international legal advisor to the U.S. Army European Headquarters in Heidelberg.
In 2007, the Government of Hungary appointed Mr. Parkerson to serve as its Honorary Consul for Georgia, Tennessee, and the Carolinas. He also serves as the Director of the Office of International Programs at the Clayton State University College of Business. He is an Assistant Professor of International Business and Global Logistics at Clayton State and an Adjunct Professor of Law at Emory University School of Law.
In addition, Mr. Parkerson is involved in leadership roles with a number of civic and charitable organizations including: World Trade Center Atlanta, The Global Soap Project, Inc., The Tropics Foundation, Clayton State University Foundation, The Carter Center, Turkish American Chamber of Commerce, and the Global Partners Council of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Parkerson is a graduate of Emory University and the Emory University School of Law. He holds a Master’s Degree in International Relations from Boston University, a Master’s Degree in History from Emory University, and is an honor graduate of the U.S. Army Command General Staff College. Additionally, Mr. Parkerson received an LL.M. in International and Comparative Law from the George Washington University School of Law, graduating with highest honors.
