Hall Booth Smith (HBS) is pleased to announce that Adam Schmidt and Sean Sullivan have joined the firm as Associates in the Atlanta office.
“As we continue to expand the quality and scale of services that we offer to our clients, we are very pleased to have Adam and Sean join our team,” said Alex Booth, Managing Partner of HBS.
Sean joins HBS after nine years of service with the US Army. He most recently served as a Trial Defense Attorney at Fort Benning, Georgia, representing soldiers and officers accused of criminal misconduct, professional dereliction, or substandard duty performance in UCMJ and administrative trials across the Southeast. In his last two years, Sean represented clients in hundreds of cases, bringing 40 cases to trial and earning the Army’s Senior Military Justice Practitioner designation.
“I am happy and excited to be working at a place where I can make a real difference for my clients every day,” said Sean.
Prior to his defense work, Sean worked at Fort McPherson in Atlanta, Georgia, in several capacities. Sean was a Trial Counsel, where he successfully prosecuted several criminal cases, including a high-profile workplace murder at Fort Gillem. He also held the position of Chief of Civil Litigation, representing the US Government in civil claims across North Georgia. Finally, Sean served as a Legal Assistance Attorney, assisting soldiers with various legal, probate, and tax matters. He also previously worked as a Military Police Officer in South Korea, supervising law enforcement activity on two overseas US bases. In law school, Sean served as a Mediator in Fulton County State Court, interned for the Georgia Innocence Project, and clerked at a boutique plaintiff’s firm. He also was a member of the Student Trial Lawyers’ Association and earned honors in Litigation, Advanced Legal Research, and Reading/Writing/Advocacy classes.
Adam Schmidt will be joining Long Term Care and Senior Housing Industry and Professional Negligence / Medical Malpractice practice groups. Adam worked as a research assistant to two different Charleston School of Law professors; he researched topics from developments concerning economic derivatives and the global financial industry and researched Supreme Court articles, statutes and cases concerning decisions on race. He also served as a Judicial Intern with the Honorable Timothy C. Batten, Sr. in Georgia where he assisted with documents concerning issues on bad faith, failure to pay and fraudulent inducement. Adam joins the firm from the Gwinnett Medical Center in the Office of the General Counsel. He received his Bachelors of Arts from the University of Georgia in Speech Communications, followed by his Juris Doctor in 2012 graduating cum laude from Charleston School of Law.
“I am excited about the opportunity to be a part of the team at HBS and I look forward to continuing the tradition of excellent service to our clients,” said Adam.
