Kevin Abernethy Appointed to State Ethics Commission

Kevin Abernethy Appointed to State Ethics Commission
(Atlanta, GA) –Lt. Governor Casey Cagle today announced that the Committee on Assignments has appointed Kevin Abernethy to the State Ethics Commission.
“As public servants, it is our duty to conduct ourselves in the most ethical and transparent manner possible and the State Ethics Commission plays a vital role in ensuring that is the case,” said Cagle. “Kevin will bring proven legal experience and strong personal character to the Ethics Commission and I know that he will be a dedicated watchdog for our citizens.”
“I am incredibly honored to have been appointed to the State Ethics Commission and look forward to working with my fellow members to ensure we have the rules and enforcement procedures in place to preserve the public trust in state government,” said Abernethy. “As a lifelong Georgian, I am truly humbled by this opportunity to serve our state.”
Kevin D. Abernethy of Fulton County is currently an attorney in the Atlanta office of Hall Booth Smith where he has handled civil rights claims for the City of Atlanta, large complex environmental lawsuits, corporate suits, and claims involving professional negligence. He received a B.A. in Political Science in 1999 from the University of Georgia, where he served as Student Body President, and earned his Juris Doctorate from the Georgia State College of Law in 2005.
