Hall Booth Smith, P.C. is pleased to announce that Joseph D. “Trey” Thompson, III has joined the firm as a partner in the Charleston office

Hall Booth Smith, P.C. is pleased to announce that Joseph D. “Trey” Thompson, III, formerly of Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd, P.A., has joined the firm as a partner in the Charleston office.  A trial lawyer with a range of experience litigating commercial and employment disputes as well as catastrophic personal injury claims arising from premises, products and toxic exposures, Trey has tried many cases in state and federal courts over his 20 year career.  Beyond the courtroom, Trey works closely with his clients to develop strategies to move cases toward resolution at mediation, avoiding costly, disruptive and time-consuming litigation.  He is also a Certified Circuit Court Mediator, qualified by the South Carolina Board of Arbitrator and Mediator Certification.

Trey earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of South Carolina School of Law, and a B.S. in Financial Management from Clemson University. He is an active member of the South Carolina Bar, the Charleston County Bar Association, and the Defense Research Institute, as well as a past Board member of the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys Association.  Trey has been a speaker in continuing education on subjects such as the South Carolina Payment of Wages Act, the enforceability of non-compete agreements, the South Carolina “Lemon Laws”, and topics related to automobile insurance coverage and associated South Carolina statutes.
