Industry Today: George Ernst on What Manufacturers Need to Know About H-1B Visas
The H-1B visa sponsorship process can be tricky for employers to navigate, which is why Little Rock Partner George Ernst’s latest column lays out the most important tips for manufacturers. Published in Industry Today, the column focuses on the manufacturing industry, explaining how the visa process works and for which roles it’s best suited.
The greatest challenge, in his experience, is that there aren’t enough H-1B visas available to meet the demands of the U.S. economy. This means U.S. manufacturers interested in sponsoring a foreign national worker should carefully plan their H-1B visa sponsorship needs as early as possible and work with an attorney to determine the best path forward.
George’s column also highlights an alternative option that some manufacturers might find preferable. The F-1 Student – Optional Practical Training, or OPT, employment authorization program allows U.S. employers to hire foreign nationals for up to one year if they recently graduated from a U.S. college or university.
