Mathis L. Gales
Biography
Mathis L. Gales is an Associate in our Atlanta office, where he focuses his practice on health care, medical malpractice, government affairs, and governmental liability matters. He is also an active participant in the firm’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Committee.
Prior to joining HBS, Mathis worked as an Associate County Attorney for the Gwinnett County Law Department, handling a variety of matters in Federal District Court and state courts on behalf of the second largest county in Georgia. He also handled various matters involving employment law, commercial and residential tax appeals, zoning and land-use issues, tort claims, and workers’ compensation matters. In addition, he previously clerked in the legal department for The Fresh Market, Inc., where he gained valuable experience in a corporate counsel environment.
Mathis earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from North Carolina Central University, where he was Executive Editor for the Science and Intellectual Property Law Review. He was also a student committee member for the Technology Law and Policy Center. Mathis earned his Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from North Carolina State University, where he was on the executive board for the Society for Politics, Economics, and the Law.
