HBS Attorneys Chosen to 2024 Georgia Rising Stars List
HBS is excited to announce that four attorneys have been selected to the 2024 Georgia Rising Stars list by Super Lawyers. Among these attorneys are Atlanta Partner Laura Hall Cartner, Columbus Partner Nicholas J. Garcia, Alpharetta Attorney J.D. Easley, and Atlanta Attorney Courtney Broussard Walker.
The Recipients
Laura Hall Cartner
Laura was recognized for her work in health care matters. She regularly represents providers including hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, and sub-acute facilities in all phases of litigation related to both general and professional liability claims. She also maintains a regulatory practice, advising providers on regulatory compliance, assisting with internal investigations, self-reporting requirements, risk management, policy development, and legislative interpretation.
Nicholas J. Garcia
Nick was recognized for his practice in bankruptcy business matters. He has experience representing and advising corporate creditors in consumer and corporate bankruptcy cases filed under Chapters 7, 11, and 13 of the Bankruptcy Code. Nick is well-versed in the challenge faced by creditors hailed into bankruptcy court and the process necessary to protect creditors’ interests.
J.D. Easley
J.D. was acknowledged for his work in workers’ compensation matters. He primarily focuses his practice in the defense of non-medical professional liability, personal injury, general liability, and premises liability matters. Prior to joining HBS, J.D. represented employers and insurers in workers’ compensation cases, handling cases from the trial level to the Georgia Court of Appeals.
Courtney Broussard Walker
Courtney was honored for her work in personal injury medical malpractice defense matters. She defends hospitals, long-term care facilities, and other health care facilities as well as doctors, nurses, and chiropractors in a wide variety of professional negligence claims.
