Philosophy

At HBS, we have the highest commitment to excellence in serving our clients. We recognize that achieving this goal every day requires an environment that supports and enriches the lives of all who work here. Through teamwork, a culture of respect and commitment, and a joint quest to achieve our vision, we are a leading employer of choice across the Southeast.

Culture

HBS expects quality work, dedication, and professionalism from all our attorneys and staff, and we extend those values to our approach in serving clients. Our family-like culture is relaxed, considerate, and cheerful. We thrive in an atmosphere of mutual respect and consideration that promotes camaraderie, collegiality, and collaboration. When we notice that a colleague could use an extra set of hands, we pitch in and help without being asked.

HBS has a culture of accentuating the positive, and we both encourage and applaud employees of any level when they exemplify top performance by going above and beyond.

Professional Growth

From senior partners and managers to the newest staff member or associate who just joined the firm, HBS continuously seeks opportunities for professional and personal growth for all of our employees.

HBS maintains an active Women’s Forum, which conducts seminars and events throughout the year designed to provide team building, networking, and professional growth opportunities for our female attorneys and clients.

Our Mentoring Program helps those associates who are at the dawn of their careers establish and cultivate strong relationships within the firm to facilitate the professional, business, and personal development of all participating HBS attorneys.

We also have an Associate Committee that encourages attorneys to learn from each other, build stronger relationships and share ideas and strategies among peers.

Our Legal Secretary and Paralegal training program offers the opportunity for those new to or transitioning into a legal services environment for on-the-job training. Experienced team members are assigned to work with the new employee to train the basic duties of the various roles.

Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion

HBS values the diverse life experiences, knowledge, perspectives, and talents that each employee, client, and business partner contributes. We are committed to intentionally creating and cultivating a diverse culture that supports equity and inclusion for all people.

We advocate for better communication, listening, understanding, respect, and acceptance in the workplace and in our daily lives, and we believe that a strong culture of diversity, equity, inclusion enriches all of us and allows us to provide better service to our clients.
