Hall Booth Smith Hires Mina Zhan, Creates China Practice as International Business Grows

Hall Booth Smith, P.C. is pleased to announce that Mina Zhan has joined the firm and will specialize in the newly created China Practice that will work with companies that do business in both the United States and China on the full spectrum of international business matters.

Zhan, who previously practiced corporate law in China and is fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese and English, is joining the firm’s Atlanta office as an associate and will work closely with the China Practice and the rest of the team that supports HBS’s clients on cross-border business issues.

With a concentration in corporate law, international business, intellectual property, business litigation and employment law, Zhan brings extensive experience from earlier in her career when she was based in China and counseled international companies on all sorts of legal and operational issues including business formation, compliance, IP portfolio management, brand protection and many other matters.

Zhan will work closely with the leader of the China Practice, John E. Hall, Jr., who is one of the founding partners of the firm. Hall has extensive cross-border business experience including matters in Asia and serving as Honorary Consul to the Country of Georgia and Chairman of the Atlanta-Tbilisi Sister City Committee.

Other HBS attorneys who support the firm’s international business clients and will assist the China Practice include Ashik Jahan, who specializes in immigration matters; Andrew Hazen, who handles transactional matters such as mergers and acquisitions plus other business matters; John Parkerson, who focuses on International Trade; and Justin Kerenyi, who handles intellectual property.

Zhan earned a Juris Doctorate from Emory University School of Law, and was Vice President of the Emory International Anti-Corruption Law Society and Secretary of the Emory Oil, Gas and Energy Law Society. She also holds a LL.M. in Commercial Law from the University of Bristol in England, and a LL.B. from the South China Normal University in Guangzhou, China. She is admitted to practice law in Georgia, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia and the People’s Republic of China.
