Before joining HBS, Aaron was Chief Executive Officer and President of CHI Living Communities in Ohio, which is a continuing care retirement community that’s part of CommonSpirit Health, the largest not-for-profit care delivery system in the United States with more than $30 billion in annual revenue. In that role, Aaron led a team of vice presidents on strategic business initiatives and goals to ensure alignment with the parent company’s 150 hospitals for a fully integrated continuum of healthcare from birth to senior living.

Earlier in his career, he was Chief Operating Officer of Morning Pointe Senior Living in Tennessee, which provides assisted living and memory care in several states. He oversaw transactions involving legal maneuvers and enterprise risk management and helped manage 1,500 employees and strategic partnerships alongside the CEO and President.

Aaron also held increasingly senior roles including Executive Vice President, General Counsel, Interim CEO, and Board Member at Life Care Centers of America, Inc. in Tennessee, which is the largest privately owned skilled nursing provider in the U.S. with operations in more than two dozen states. While serving as Interim CEO of two business lines, he sourced and negotiated a profitable sale of the Home Health & Hospice Division, restructured the legal department to improve trial win ratios and decrease settlement values, and oversaw strategic initiatives including an internal website and efforts to improve integrated loss prevention, risk financing, and Department of Justice matters.

Previously at Life Care Centers of America, he was Senior Vice President of Legal and oversaw a team of 40 attorneys and support staff while managing large-scale litigation, insurance, risk management, general counsel and legal and financial advice to the Board of Directors on a wide range of issues. Aaron proactively reduced the frequency and severity of legal claims through early intervention, internal training and stronger legal competencies while also leading operations of the $400 million captive self-insurance company.

Before specializing in assisted living, Aaron served as Vice President at the Electric Power Board of Chattanooga, which is an electrical distribution and high-speed telecommunications company owned by the City of Chattanooga. He began his career at Fidelity Investments where he worked on investment strategies and financial solutions for clients, and he is licensed in FINRA Series 6 and 63.

Aaron earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Tennessee and a Bachelor of Arts from Denison University in Granville, Ohio. He also completed the Young American Leaders Program at Harvard Business School in 2019. Aaron serves on the Board of Directors of The Lyndhurst Foundation and is Chair of the Diversity Committee; he also serves on the Board of Directors of the Chattanooga Preparatory Academy.

Experience

Aaron has nearly two decades of senior executive and legal experience at major assisted living and aging care businesses, including serving as Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Executive Vice President, General Counsel, and Senior Vice President of Legal. He has personally been ultimately responsible for safety and performance, and he has managed the risks of litigation from an executive leadership perspective.
