Tom is a Partner in our Atlanta office, and an experienced trial lawyer who is the Chair of the firm’s Products Liability Practice Group. He concentrates his practice on a wide variety of products liability and health care matters involving complex, high-damages claims. Tom has built a reputation for hard work, creative thinking and aggressive defense of clients without sacrificing his professionalism.

Tom’s products liability experience includes serving as national, regional and local counsel for clients in mass tort actions as well as single plaintiff litigation. He has particular expertise in defending manufacturers of medical devices, pharmaceuticals, hand and power tools, and consumer products. He partners with clients on e-Discovery and assists them with identifying relevant documents and preservation obligations. A related aspect of Tom’s products liability practice is counseling clients on product safety, risk and reporting, including product recall and regulatory compliance before government agencies such as the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

In addition, Tom regularly defends physicians, nurse midwives, nurses, hospitals and other health care providers in professional malpractice claims, and he represents physicians before the Georgia Composite Medical Board and in other administrative matters. He also represents health care providers and company executives with risk management matters and with government or internal investigations related to alleged health care fraud and abuse.

Over twenty years as a trial lawyer, Tom has tried numerous cases to verdict in both federal and state courts, and he has argued before the Georgia Supreme Court and the Georgia Court of Appeals. He has an active motions practice and has extensive experience mediating complex, high-exposure cases.

Tom is AV® Preeminent Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell and he has been selected as either a Georgia Super Lawyer or Georgia Rising Star every year since 2005.

He earned a Juris Doctorate, cum laude, from Georgia State University College of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from Washington & Lee University.

A native of Atlanta, Tom graduated from Marist High School, where he met his wife Jennifer. They have three children.

Tom defends companies in products liability litigation, including pharmaceuticals and medical devices, hand and power tools, and consumer products.

He works with medical device companies on product risk, crisis management and FDA reporting and compliance matters, and defends and counsels physicians, midwives, nurses and large metro-Atlanta hospitals in professional negligence claims. He also represents individuals in alleged health care fraud and abuse investigations and claims.

Tom assists product manufacturers with e-Discovery obligations in products liability claims and in litigation, and defends automotive manufacturers in products liability suits nationwide.
