Raleigh McCullough Heino

Hall Booth Smith is excited to welcome experienced health care Partner Elizabeth Pharr McCullough and medical malpractice Attorney Kelsey Heino in its Raleigh office.

About the Attorneys

Elizabeth Pharr McCullough

Elizabeth advises and defends health care providers in matters involving patient care issues and risk management issues. She has successfully handled numerous medical malpractice cases and has taken many of them to trial and obtained numerous defense verdicts, many of which involved catastrophic injury or death.

Elizabeth also represents clients before the North Carolina Medical Board, the North Carolina Board of Nursing, the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy, the North Carolina Board of Physical Therapy, and the North Carolina Board of Social Work Certification and Licensure. As the daughter of a retired ENT physician, she knows first-hand that it is never “just a case.”

Elizabeth also represents clients in federal court in Section 1983 civil rights litigation involving medical providers, working closely with the North Carolina Attorney General’s office in the defense of those claims. She has successfully handled appeals in the North Carolina Court of Appeals, North Carolina Supreme Court, Virginia Supreme Court, United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.

Kelsey Heino

Kelsey focuses her practice in medical malpractice matters. Prior to joining HBS, she gained experience as an associate at a trial firm, where she second-chaired a diverse case load of multi-million dollar medical malpractice matters. She was also selected as an insurer’s primary counsel for treating provider depositions related to the Camp Lejeune Justice Act litigation. Before defending medical malpractice matters, she focused her practice on employment litigation defense at a Midwest based firm, where she second-chaired an $11 million non-compete and confidentiality agreement trial.

“We are thrilled to welcome Elizabeth and Kelsey to the Raleigh office. Their experience and dedication will be invaluable as we continue to provide exceptional service to our clients,” said Maria Wood, managing partner of the Raleigh office.
