Part B News: Jacqueline Voronov on Remaining Mask Mandates & Enforcement
In an article published on May 18, 2023, in Part B News, Paramus Partner Jacqueline Voronov shares her insight about remaining masks mandates after the end of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency on May 11.
Jacqueline says that practices cannot selectively enforce their requirements, commenting, “If you’re going to say, for example, dietary doesn’t have to wear masks but the aides have to wear masks, there’s going to have to be some kind of justification [such as relative infection risk] for doing it that way.”
Practices must also stay on top of state laws. She explains that states like Florida prohibit mask requirements unless they meet certain standards laid out by the state Agency for Health Care Administration.
Ultimately, Jacqueline says practices are within their rights to enact mask requirements to care for patient and staff safety.
