Overview

Charles A. Dorminy is a Partner in the HBS Brunswick office.
Mr. Dorminy earned a Bachelor of Science and Arts degree at the University of Georgia, majoring in Agricultural Business. He completed his Juris Doctor at Mercer University School of Law, interning for both the Tift Superior Court and for the U.S. Federal Court for the Middle District of Georgia. After law school graduation, he went on to obtain an LL.M., an additional advanced legal degree, concentrating in Healthcare Law, from the University of Houston. 
His practice encompasses wide variety of areas, including medical malpractice defense, employment law, local government law and litigation, health-care compliance and general insurance defense litigation. He currently serves as appointed counsel for a local government utilities provider, and acts as outside litigation counsel for multiple health-care facilities and local governments. He was named a Super Lawyers Rising Star in 2012 and 2013.
Mr. Dorminy and his wife, Caroline, have three children: Maggie, Jack and Henry. They are members of Wesley United Methodist Church at Frederica, where he previously served as Chairman of the Staff Parish Relations Committee and is the current Vice Chair of the Administrative Council. He also serves as an usher and leads a men’s Bible study. 
In addition, Mr. Dorminy serves on the Frederica Academy Board of Trustees, the Golden Isles Arts and Humanities Association (GIAHA) Board of Trustees and the First Tee of Southeast Georgia Board of Trustees. He is a Friend of the Foundation of Southeast Georgia Health System and is a Founder of the Tift Regional Medical Center Foundation. He has also served as President and Vice President of the Tift Circuit Bar Association, Vice Chairman of the Tift Area Arts Council and Chairman of the Love Affair Arts Festival.

Practice Areas

Governmental Liability

In the area of government liability, he offers clients his deep experience in local government regulatory law and litigation from assisting and advising multiple appointed local government attorneys. Through this practice, Mr. Dorminy has gained an understanding of the complex and wide variety of issues surrounding governmental entities. He also serves as general counsel for a local water and sewer commission. He is adept at providing guidance on water use and environmental discharge laws, and works hand in hand with the commissioners and staff to address a variety of issues affecting this industry.
