A transplant from the Northeast, Ms. Kanik brings varied interests and life experiences to Hall Booth Smith.
At Syracuse University, she was named a Newhouse academic scholar and was nominated for national writing awards. As a journalism school graduate, Ms. Kanik reported on local news and farming issues for weekly and daily newspapers in New York, New England, and Pennsylvania. While attending law school, she was an editor of the Law Review and was honored for her writing skills.
Prior to relocating to Atlanta, Ms. Kanik practiced medical malpractice defense with a New York City law firm. Before joining HBS, she practiced creditors' rights and was in-house litigation attorney with Coca-Cola Enterprises, Inc., the world's largest bottler of Coca-Cola products. While at Coca-Cola Enterprises, Inc., she supervised national products liability and tort litigation.
Ms. Kanik has provided coverage opinions and analysis to insurers in sophisticated insurance litigation involving environmental torts and has represented insurers in actions for declaratory relief at the state court level and before the district courts and the eleventh circuit court of appeals.
