Biography

Alexis O’Brien is an associate in the Oklahoma City office, where she focuses her practice on aging services, dental, general liability, health care, insurance coverage, and medical malpractice matters.

Before joining the firm as an associate attorney, she served as a summer associate in the Oklahoma City office, where she gained hands-on experience assisting attorneys with complex litigation matters. During this time, she successfully drafted a reply brief challenging a plaintiff’s opposition to a comprehensive medical authorization request and prepared a mediation statement for a case that ultimately settled. She also assisted with deposition preparation, medical record reviews, discovery disputes, and case strategy, including attending depositions and meetings with experts and physicians.

While in law school, Alexis served as a licensed academic intern with the University of Oklahoma College of Law’s Criminal Legal Clinic, where she represented clients navigating the criminal justice system. In this role, she successfully obtained an expungement for a client, advocated for cost and fee waivers, and assisted clients through various stages of criminal proceedings. Her experience included client interviews, legal research, drafting pleadings, and courtroom advocacy.

Alexis also gained experience through a previous summer associate position, where she assisted with contract drafting and review, legal research, and matters involving electric cooperatives and medical boards.

Alexis earned her Juris Doctor, with highest honors, from the University of Oklahoma College of Law, where she has also been inducted into the Order of the Coif. During law school, she served as assistant executive editor of the American Indian Law Review, where she edited candidate submissions and assisted with legal research. She was also a member of the Native American Law Student’s Association (NALSA) and competed as a national semifinalist in both the National Native American Law Student’s Association moot court competition and an arbitration competition.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, in history and criminology from the University of Florida, where she served as captain of the Litigators Mock Trial Team.
