Allen Orr
Biography
Allen Orr is a Partner in the Athens office of Hall Booth Smith and specializes in medical malpractice, professional negligence, transportation, and general liability matters. He has experience handling all matters of litigation from pre-suit issues through trial and also through the appeal process, primarily representing hospitals, nurses, and physicians in all aspects of medical malpractice.
Earlier in his career, he practiced at firms in Athens and Macon, where he represented corporate and individual clients in business disputes, estate litigation, and commercial loan workouts. He is also experienced at automobile and premises liability insurance defense and has worked on securing federal and state historic tax credits for local nonprofits.
Allen earned a Juris Doctor from the Wake Forest University School of Law, where he served as the managing editor of the Wake Forest Journal of Business and Intellectual Property Law. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, specializing in Public Relations, as well as a minor in Philosophy from the University of Georgia, where he graduated magna cum laude.
He and his wife Mary Ann and their daughters Jane and Kathleen live in Madison, Georgia, where he enjoys racquetball, tennis, golf, and following college football, especially the Georgia Bulldogs.
Experience
Allen’s general liability practice focuses on handling and representing insureds in premises liability and auto liability cases through all phases of liability litigation including mediations, motion practice, hearings, summary adjudication, trials, and appeals.
Allen’s litigation practice focuses on defending medical professionals including doctors, nurses, hospitals, and others throughout Georgia. The allegations in the cases he has handled range from negligent treatment and diagnosis to negligent credentialing of physicians and wrongful death.
