Briana Blackwell
Biography
Briana Blackwell is an associate in the Alpharetta office, practicing in general liability, premises liability, and insurance defense matters. She manages all phases of litigation, including drafting pleadings, conducting discovery, taking and defending depositions, and arguing dispositive motions. Briana works closely with insurance carriers and claims professionals to evaluate liability, assess exposure, and develop strategic approaches to defense. Briana protects the rights of trucking companies, drivers, and their insurers in personal injury, vehicular accident, and other related claims.
Prior to joining Hall Booth Smith, Briana practiced at a civil defense firm, where she represented insureds and insurance carriers in litigation matters, with a primary focus on automotive claims, handling cases from initial pleadings through resolution.
During law school, Briana interned with the DeKalb County Superior Court and American Civil Liberties Union. She also served as a Student Attorney in the Health Law Partnership Legal Services Clinic in collaboration with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. In addition, she gained experience as a law clerk at an employment law firm and graduate research assistant.
She received her Juris Doctor from Georgia State University College of Law, where she earned certificates in Public Interest Law and Policy and Applied Legal Research, Experience, and Technology with High Distinction. During her studies, she also participated in an international exchange program at Aarhus University in Denmark. Briana earned her Master of Public Administration from The Pennsylvania State University and received three Bachelor of Arts degrees in African American Studies, Political Science, and Philosophy, from The Schreyer Honors College and Paterno Fellows Program at The Pennsylvania State University.
Prior to law school, Briana worked in regulatory compliance in the financial services industry, focusing on SEC and FINRA compliance matters.
