Charles B. Kraft
Biography
Charles Kraft is a Partner in the Albuquerque office of Hall Booth Smith. He focuses his practice on defending professionals, businesses, and organizations in complex litigation involving catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death claims, transportation and trucking matters, products liability, professional malpractice, regulatory and licensure issues, and a wide range of general liability disputes.
Charlie brings a diverse litigation background and extensive courtroom experience to his practice. He began his legal career as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of New Mexico, where he represented state boards and commissions in administrative and civil matters. In that role, he handled litigation, rulemaking proceedings, disciplinary hearings, investigations, public meetings, and regulatory compliance matters while also providing legal guidance on state legislation and public records issues.
Drawn to the courtroom, Charlie later joined the Law Offices of the Public Defender in Albuquerque, where he represented clients from arraignment through trial. This experience provided him with substantial trial and courtroom advocacy experience and helped establish the litigation skills that continue to serve his clients today.
Before joining HBS, Charlie spent a decade with a prominent Albuquerque civil defense firm, including five years as a partner, director, and shareholder. During that time, he represented clients ranging from individual professionals and business owners to large corporations and institutions. His practice concentrated on defending high-exposure claims involving catastrophic injuries, wrongful death, transportation and trucking accidents, products liability, professional malpractice, and professional licensure and regulatory matters.
Today, Charlie leverages his broad litigation background to provide strategic, practical counsel to clients facing complex legal challenges. He is known for his thoughtful approach to case management, strong advocacy skills, and commitment to achieving favorable outcomes for his clients. Outside of the practice of law, Charlie is a devoted husband and father of two of amazing kids. He is also a CrossFit coach, a cyclist and mountain biker, and an avid supporter of the New York Yankees, New York Giants, and New York Knicks.
