Daniel O’Byrne
Biography
Daniel O’Byrne is an associate in Hall Booth Smith’s Jacksonville office, where he focuses his practice on medical malpractice defense. He represents health care providers and organizations in complex professional liability matters, bringing experience handling cases through all phases of litigation.
Before joining Hall Booth Smith, Daniel practiced with a local Jacksonville law firm, where he defended hospitals, physicians, midwives, nurses, employees and other health care professionals in medical malpractice matters throughout Florida. He has worked extensively with expert witnesses, fact witnesses and treating providers and has experience maintaining close communication with clients throughout the litigation process. Daniel began his legal career as an Assistant State Attorney in Jacksonville, where he developed significant courtroom experience prosecuting criminal matters. He managed a substantial caseload and first-chaired a number of jury trials while handling matters ranging from misdemeanor offenses to felony cases.
Daniel earned his J.D. from the University of Florida Fredric G. Levin College of Law, where he competed nationally on the Trial Team and served as an editor for the Journal of Law and Public Policy. He earned his undergraduate degree with a double major in Political Science and History, magna cum laude, from Florida State University.
Daniel is active in the Jacksonville legal community. He is an executive board member of the Jacksonville Bar Association Young Lawyers Section and an associate of the Chester Bedell Inn of Court.
