David W. Badie is a Partner in our office in Saddle Brook, New Jersey, and he specializes in defending major healthcare and hospital networks in a wide range of healthcare and medical malpractice litigation.

Before joining Hall Booth Smith, David worked at a boutique health care defense law firm where he represented one of New Jersey’s largest hospital and health care networks as well as its physicians, nurses, hospital administrators and other employees, officers, directors and other professionals.

In addition to defending clients in complex, high exposure healthcare and medical malpractice lawsuits, David counsels health care networks and providers on day-to-day business matters such as regulatory, compliance, risk management, employment, contracts and technology issues. He works with clients on policies and procedures to ensure they stay compliant with hospital law and other regulatory mandates on which he is a subject matter expert, and represents clients in arbitration, mediation and settlement negotiations.  Additionally, David works closely with health system leadership, administration, and clinicians on internal investigations and other internal committees.  He advises clients on a wide range of healthcare agreements.

He served as General Counsel for the Coptic Orthodox Archdiocese of North America, and provides general counsel services and other legal representation for religious and healthcare organizations. He is often invited to speak at continuing education programs and as a guest lecturer at hospitals, medical schools and residency programs including Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine at Seton Hall University, Cooper Medical School of Rowan University, The American Medical Association, Westchester Medical Center, and the Mercy College Physician Assistant Program.

David completed the intensive training program of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) National Trial College at Harvard Law School. He earned a Juris Doctorate degree from St. Thomas University School of Law and was recognized for completing more than 400 pro bono hours, and he also attended Rutgers School of Law. He served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Eugene J. Codey, Jr., Presiding Judge for the Essex County Civil Division, and the Honorable Jerome M. St. John, Criminal and Appellate Divisions for Essex County. In his undergraduate career, David completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Economics at Montclair State University. He is also fluent in Arabic and Spanish.
