Biography

Emily Jacobson is an associate in the Raleigh office, where she focuses her practice on medical malpractice and the representation of healthcare providers.

Prior to joining the firm as an associate, she served as a summer associate at Hall Booth Smith, where she drafted motions and discovery responses, conducted legal research on medical malpractice and premises liability matters, and gained exposure to litigation strategy through attending depositions, mediations, and client meetings.

Emily previously interned with the North Carolina Department of Justice, where she assisted with matters involving Medicaid fraud, waste, and abuse. Her work included researching the Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark Law, and False Claims Act, along with drafting civil investigative demands, litigation hold letters, and complaints. Prior to law school, she gained experience with medical documentation review, insurance reimbursement disputes, and overpayment audits while working as a medical biller in a family-owned DME company. These experiences provide her with valuable insight into the regulatory and compliance challenges providers face, complementing her work defending clients in the healthcare industry.

Emily earned her Juris Doctor from Campbell University’s Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law, where she served as chief comments editor of the Campbell Law Review, competed on the moot court team, and was a teaching scholar for an evidence course. She also participated in the Health Law Association and served as a peer mentor. She received her Bachelor of Arts in History from Hillsdale College.
