Joel I. Fishbein
Biography
Joel I. Fishbein is Of Counsel with Hall Booth Smith and focuses his practice on aging services, health care, and medical malpractice, appellate, arbitration & mediation, employment and business litigation..
With more than three decades of litigation and risk management experience, Joel represents long-term care providers, hospitals, physicians, and businesses in complex disputes. He draws on his extensive background to provide strategic counsel in high-stakes matters and to guide clients through arbitration, mediation, and trial. He also has significant appellate experience, having successfully argued novel legal issues impacting health care and arbitration law.
Before joining HBS, Joel served as Senior Vice President and Director of Litigation and Risk at Complete Care Management, where he supervised outside counsel and developed strategies to reduce claim frequency and severity across the organization. Earlier in his career, he practiced as partner at several law firms, where he represented clients in Pennsylvania and New Jersey in medical malpractice defense and long-term care litigation.
Joel has tried and arbitrated numerous cases to successful outcomes, including achieving a multi-million-dollar arbitration award on behalf of a business owner and securing appellate decisions enforcing arbitration agreements in assisted living contracts..
He is certified in Mediation by Harvard Law School and earned his J.D. from Temple University’s James E. Beasley School of Law, where he served as note and comment editor for the Temple Law Review. He also holds a B.S. in Accounting from Pennsylvania State University.
