Kelsey Alvarez
Biography
Kelsey Alvarez is a Partner in our Jacksonville office. She handles a variety of general liability matters with a focus on premises liability and transportation claims. She also defends professional liability cases to include medical and dental malpractice.
Kelsey enjoys being in the courtroom and has written, and successfully obtained, multiple Motions for Summary Judgment and recouped six-figure fee and costs awards for her clients. She has valuable trial experience, including direct and cross examination of key witnesses. She also serves on the advisory board for the paralegal studies program at Florida State College at Jacksonville.
Prior to joining Hall Booth Smith, she was a Partner at a national, multi-specialty firm. She earned her Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from Florida Coastal School of Law. She served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Harvey E. Schlesinger of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. She was the president of the nationally ranked Moot Court program and received the national Best Oralist Award in the Frank A. Schreck Gaming Law competition in Las Vegas, Nevada. She also served on the editorial board for the Florida Costal Law Review. Prior to law school, she attended West Virginia University, where she graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations.
Outside of the office, Kelsey enjoys spending time with her family, attending Orangetheory classes, and watching football, specifically, the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Experience
Kelsey has defended a wide assortment of premises liability cases ranging from slip/trip and falls, video voyeurism, boxes falling from displays, malfunctioning doors, and shopping and motorized cart incidents.
She has in depth experience handling multi-vehicle trucking accidents involving catastrophic injuries and death.
Her experience also includes multi-claimant medical malpractice defense, the defense of plastic surgeons, OB/GYNs, and dental malpractice cases. She has successfully defended medical professionals at trial and obtained summary judgment in a complex wrongful death case.
