Laura G. Brook
Biography
Laura Brook is an Associate in our Charlotte office and focuses her practice on business litigation, general liability, premises liability, professional liability, medical malpractice, aging services litigation, and labor and employment defense. She is licensed in North Carolina and is admitted to practice in all U.S. District Courts for North Carolina and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
Laura’s practice includes defending employers, long-term care facilities, medical and health care providers, insurance companies, and large and small businesses in a wide range of litigation areas, primarily focusing on general liability, professional liability, aging services, and medical malpractice. She represents physicians and health care providers in matters before licensing boards, including the North Carolina Medical Board. Also, Laura routinely represents educational institutions and employers in OCR, EEOC, and other related administrative proceedings.
Laura is an accomplished professional who has demonstrated her expertise successfully defending her client in an appeal of a motion to dismiss at the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. Additionally, she has proven her skills in enforcing arbitration agreements at the North Carolina Court of Appeals.Laura has experience in virtually all stages of litigation, including conducting complex discovery, depositions, and trial and arbitration experience. She enjoys being a valued legal resource to her clients.
Prior to joining Hall Booth Smith, Laura worked at a regional defense firm, focusing primarily on workers’ compensation defense. She attended the University of North Carolina Wilmington for her undergraduate degree and obtained her law degree from the University of North Carolina School of Law, where she was the managing editor for the North Carolina Journal of Law and Technology and a member of Holderness Moot Court. Laura is a Charlotte-area native and loves the history and community of the Queen City; she is involved with the Junior League of Charlotte and values giving back to her community.
In her free time, Laura enjoys spending time with her husband, Joe, and their dog, Dexter; traveling; and cheering on the Tar Heels.
