Practice Areas
Aging Services | General Liability | Insurance Coverage | Labor & Employment | Medical Malpractice | Premises Liability | Transportation
Lauren works in Hall Booth Smith’s Charleston, South Carolina, office where she concentrates her practice in the healthcare industry, representing a variety of healthcare providers and professionals in all phases of litigation related to both general and professional liability claims. She also practices in the areas of premises liability, transportation, insurance coverage, and general liability matters.
Before joining Hall Booth Smith, Lauren worked for nearly a decade in civil and administrative litigation in both the public and private sectors. Most recently, she worked as a partner at a well-respected regional defense firm, handling cases from inception through investigation and all aspects of litigation, including trial. She has successfully defended a wide variety of injury claims, including catastrophic injury, orthopedic injuries, brain trauma, spinal injuries, and psychological injury.
Lauren received her J.D. degree, cum laude, from St. Thomas University School of Law and her B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from Loyola Marymount University. During law school, she was elected to both the editorial board of the Law Review and executive board of the Moot Court Team. Her analytic and advocacy skills served her well in several national moot court competitions (first as a participant and later as a coach) and earned her CALI awards in several courses, including Legal Research and Writing, Advanced Legal Research and Writing, and Appellate Advocacy (where she also scored best brief). One of Lauren’s greatest law school accomplishments was earning the coveted position of judicial intern to Senior Judge James Lawrence King, U.S. District Court, Southern District of Florida, one of the longest serving federal judges in the United States.
Outside of the office, Lauren is engaged in the Charleston County Bar Association, the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys Association, the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association, and the South Carolina Bar Young Lawyers Division. Lauren is married to Richard Vriesinga, who also practices law, and together they enjoy raising their sons in Daniel Island, South Carolina, taking advantage of all the Lowcountry has to offer.
