Meghan Leigh Theodore
Biography
Meghan Leigh Theodore is a Partner in Hall Booth Smith’s Tampa office, where she concentrates her practice on general liability, medical malpractice, premises liability, products liability, and transportation matters.
With more than 18 years of litigation experience, Meghan represents businesses, insurers, transportation companies, retailers, restaurants, and other clients in complex civil litigation throughout Florida. Her practice includes premises liability, negligent security, automobile and trucking accidents, dram shop liability, products liability, wrongful death, catastrophic injury, and other high-exposure bodily injury and property damage claims.
Meghan takes a strategic and client-focused approach to litigation, working closely with clients to understand their goals and develop a defense strategy tailored to each matter. Her experience encompasses all stages of litigation, including immediate accident and scene investigations, site inspections, written discovery, fact and expert depositions, dispositive motions, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial.
Throughout her career, Meghan has independently managed significant and complex litigation caseloads involving premises liability, transportation, negligent security, dram shop, products liability, and catastrophic injury claims. She has obtained dozens of summary judgments in premises liability, negligent security, dram shop, and automobile and trucking matters, including cases involving issues of notice, causation, and open and obvious conditions. She also has successfully pursued early dismissal of claims through targeted investigations and dispositive motion practice.
Meghan brings substantial courtroom experience to her practice. She has served as first and second chair in jury trials involving automobile negligence, trucking accidents, and premises liability claims and has extensive experience preparing witnesses, examining experts, developing trial themes, and presenting arguments designed around the particular facts and objectives of each case. She also has represented clients in connection with EEOC and OSHA investigations and other governmental inquiries.
Transportation is a significant component of Meghan’s practice. She has represented major trucking and transportation clients in accident litigation and understands the importance of a rapid response following a serious incident. Her experience conducting immediate investigations and developing early case assessments enables her to help clients identify potential issues and establish a strong defense strategy from the outset.
Prior to joining Hall Booth Smith, Meghan practiced with other Florida law firms, where she focused extensively on insurance defense and general civil litigation. In addition to managing her own litigation practice, she has supervised, trained, and mentored associates and litigation teams. Meghan places particular emphasis on proactive communication and developing strong, long-term relationships with the clients she represents.
Meghan earned her Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Law, cum laude, from the University of Florida in 2005 and her Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from Stetson University College of Law.
