Nicholas Baca
Biography
Nicholas Baca is an attorney in Hall Booth Smith’s Albuquerque office whose practice focuses on defending healthcare providers, businesses, and insurers in medical malpractice, complex commercial litigation, products liability, and general liability matters. He represents clients in state and federal courts and provides strategic counsel throughout all stages of litigation, from early case assessment and discovery through dispositive motion practice, mediation, and trial. Drawing on experience gained at leading regional and national law firms, Nicholas approaches each matter with commitment to thoughtful advocacy, meticulous preparation, and practical solutions tailored to his clients’ business and litigation objectives. His legal experience includes work on commercial disputes, class actions, and other high-exposure matters involving complex legal and factual issues.
Before joining Hall Booth Smith, Nick gained valuable experience in both the legal and public sectors. He previously served as an Intern for the Executive Office of the New Mexico Department of Justice, he served as a Congressional Staff Assistant for both the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives, where he assisted constituents on federal and state matters supporting legislative efforts. In law school, Mr. Baca gained valuable experience as a summer associate with law firms in New York, Miami, and Albuquerque. His work included drafting motions and mediation materials, preparing litigation memoranda, reviewing and drafting contracts, assisting in hearings and negotiations, and defending depositions. He also supported transactional teams by preparing side letters, summarizing partnership agreements, and shadowing mergers and acquisitions.
Nick earned his Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School and his dual Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude in Political Science, Legal Theory, and Philosophy, from the University of New Mexico. Baca was the President of First Class, a student organization for first generation college students, and he was a senior article editor for the Harvard Latin American Law Review.
