Ellis R. Faught, III “Trey”
Biography
Trey Faught is an Associate attorney in the Tampa office of Hall Booth Smith. With more than 15 years of litigation experience, Trey focuses his practice on general liability matters, with particular emphasis on defending motor vehicle and trucking accident claims, premises liability claims,and commercial disputes.
Trey has extensive experience serving as personal counsel and coverage counsel for trucking and logistics companies. In that role, he has monitored carrier-retained defense counsel in bodily injury and motor vehicle liability cases arising from trucking accidents, reviewed pleadings and discovery, attended mediations, and worked to ensure defense strategies remain aligned with policy coverage and client objectives. He has also handled high-value cargo claim litigation, evaluated complex insurance coverage issues, coordinated multi-party defense efforts, and litigated disputed claims on behalf of both insurers and transportation clients.
Trey’s background gives him practical insight into how general liability claims are investigated, evaluated, and defended from both the insured’s and the carrier’s perspectives. He has also handled contractual disputes between businesses and individuals, complex insurance coverage issues, and other commercial matters. His approach is focused on understanding each client’s objectives, identifying potential exposure early, and developing practical strategies for resolving disputes efficiently.
Trey earned his Juris Doctor from Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School, where he served as Managing Editor of The John Marshall Law Journal. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Law from the University of Florida, where he was a member of the Criminology and Law Honor Society.
