William M. Sheehy
Biography
William M. “Bill” Sheehy is Of Counsel in our New Jersey office, and he has nearly four decades of legal experience.
Bill specializes in business transactions, real estate, environmental matters, corporate and partnership law, and business planning and succession issues. He also works with clients on wills, trusts, estate planning and administration.
Working closely with his clients as a trusted advisor and legal counselor, Bill helps protect their interests and ensures that their legal strategy is aligned with their long-term business goals.
Before joining Hall Booth Smith in 2021, Bill co-owned a boutique law firm in New Jersey. Earlier in his career, he worked in the recreational boating and tourist industries before pursuing a career in law.
Bill earned a Juris Doctorate degree, cum laude, from Seton Hall University School of Law, where he worked as a faculty research assistant. He also completed a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Delaware, where he majored in political science and was inducted into honor societies Phi Sigma Alpha and Phi Alpha Theta.
He also studied comparative and international law at the University of Florence in Italy and at Downing College at Cambridge University in the United Kingdom. He is a former Assistant Scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts of America, and remains actively involved with the organization.

Bill has more than 35 years of legal experience, and works closely with each client to understand and support their business needs and objectives. He represents clients in business transactions, corporate and partnership law matters, business planning, succession, real estate and environmental matters. He also handles wills, trusts, estate planning and administration.
Bill works with businesses of all sizes and across numerous industries to provide strategic counsel on business transactions such as mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, alliances and other endeavors. He also represents lenders and borrowers in loan transactions.
For many years, Bill has been a trusted advisor to companies on a wide range of corporate matters, partnerships, business planning, succession and other day-to-day business needs.
Bill represents clients on environmental and land use matters, including federal, state and local regulatory matters.
Real estate law is complex and often involves numerous parties, from buyers, sellers, investors, institutional lenders, developers and individuals. Bill works with clients to help them navigate negotiations, transactions, financing matters, contracts, zoning, land use and other related matters.
Bill works with clients to help them preserve their wealth for future generations and ensure that their estate is handled exactly as they intended. He helps clients understand their options, the tax implications and the best way to accomplish their wishes. On the administrative side, Bill represents beneficiaries, heirs and fiduciaries on asset distribution, funding, disposition, tax matters, elections, joint and partial ownership, disputes, litigation, and other issues that may arise.
