GEORGIA – – We are excited to congratulate John E. Hall, Jr., Rush S. Smith, Jr., C. Michael Johnson, and James B. Durham as they have been recognized for their outstanding legal service and selected to the 2023 Georgia Super Lawyers list once again.

John E. Hall, Jr.

John Hall was honored for his work in personal injury medical malpractice defense. This is the nineteenth time he has been recognized as a Super Lawyer in this field. John is one of the founding partners of Hall Booth Smith. He specializes in the defense of high exposure cases including medical malpractice, batch claims, construction, commercial litigation, mass torts, transportation, and products liability.

John has established himself as one of the top litigators in the health care field and has tried over 125 cases to resolution. His expertise in high exposure birth trauma and catastrophic cases resulted in his being named National Counsel for several major insurance carriers. John also maintains a robust corporate practice in International, International Trade and Finance, Arbitration/Mediation, Business Structures, Health Care, and Commercial Litigation.

Rush S. Smith, Jr.

Rush Smith was honored for his work in professional liability defense. This is the seventeenth time he has been honored with the Super Lawyer award. Rush is another of the founding partners at Hall Booth Smith and currently chairs the firm’s Professional Liability Practice Area. His practice includes the representation of attorneys in legal malpractice claims ranging from security issues to alleged attorney fraud.

He has specialized experience in representing attorneys in cases brought by bankruptcy trustees as they attempt to marshal debtors’ assets. Additionally, Rush is a frequent speaker assisting the Georgia Bar’s Institute for Continuing Legal Education, state and national professional associations’ continuing education programs, and risk management seminars across the state.

C. Michael Johnson

Mike Johnson, who was recognized for his work in personal injury products defense, has developed a national practice involving complex insurance litigation for over 40 years. This is the eighteenth time he has been recognized as a Super Lawyer.

He has represented clients involving their insurance coverage disputes in over 26 states and frequently litigates in the state and federal courts. Mike has also successfully taken cases before the Second Circuit, Fourth Circuit, Fifth Circuit, Eighth Circuit, Ninth Circuit, and Eleventh Circuit Courts of Appeals.

James B. Durham

James Durham was honored for his work in business litigation for the eighteenth time. He has been involved in complex civil litigation including commercial litigation, construction litigation, industrial accidents, products liability defense, professional negligence, medical malpractice defense, shareholder derivative actions, and mining law and mineral resource litigation throughout his career.

During his 30 plus-year career, Jim has represented numerous insurance companies in matters involving personal injury defense, coverage issues, and first party defense.
