Hall Booth Smith Adds Four Attorneys in its Tampa Office

TAMPA, FL – January 28, 2022 – Hall Booth Smith, P.C. (HBS) has added four attorneys to its Tampa office as the firm expands to serve its health care clients in the state of Florida.

Frances G. Prockop is a Partner in our Tampa office with more than three decades of legal experience. She represents hospitals, urgent care centers, physician groups, pharmacies and other health care providers in a wide range of medical malpractice defense and health care litigation, including high-exposure cases such as traumatic injury. In addition, she also defends clients in premises liability and general liability matters.

Earlier in her career, Fran practiced nursing at a major regional hospital and continued working as a nurse while attending law school. She also directed the risk management department at Tampa General Hospital. Her first-hand experience and knowledge of the pressure and stress health care professionals face during every patient encounter help inform her law practice and her approach to defending and resolving cases. Fran earned a J.D. from Stetson University College of Law, and a B.S.N. from Vanderbilt University.

Theresa A. Domenico is a Partner in our Tampa office with two decades of legal experience in medical malpractice defense, aging services litigation, premises liability and general liability. She is also a Certified Arbitrator in the state of Florida and represents clients in resolving disputes outside of court. Theresa represents physicians, nurses, administrators, insurers and other health care professionals in a wide range of litigation including medical malpractice claims, personal injury, insurance matters, pain management and pharmaceutical laboratory compliance. She has been lead attorney in numerous jury trials and arbitrations. In addition, she counsels nursing homes and other aging care providers on Medicare and Medicaid compliance, risk management, malpractice litigation and business management matters, and has conducted training seminars about federal and state healthcare laws and regulatory compliance for healthcare professionals throughout Florida.

Earlier in her career, Theresa worked in the Appellate Division of the State Attorney’s Office of the Sixth Judicial Circuit. She also served as a prosecutor for five years. Theresa earned a J.D. from Stetson University College of Law and holds a B.A. from the University of South Florida.

Alexis M. Connell is Of Counsel in our Tampa office and has more than 15 years of legal experience. She concentrates her practice on medical malpractice, aging services and general liability litigation defense to protect the rights of doctors, nurses, administrators and other health care professionals. She has handled numerous cases throughout the entire civil litigation process, including complex motions, mediation, arbitration, discovery, depositions, trials and settlement negotiations.

Earlier in her career, Alexis worked at two major defense firms in Florida where she focused on nursing home defense, professional liability, general liability and insurance defense matters.  Before entering private practice, she represented indigent parties in juvenile dependency cases in a newly formed Office of Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsel in Hillsborough County, Florida. Alexis earned her J.D. with a Sports Law Certificate from Florida Coastal School of Law, and holds a B.A. from the University of South Florida.

Gina Brice Griffith is an Associate in our office in Tampa, and she defends hospitals, physician groups and other health care professionals in a wide range of medical malpractice litigation. She also protects the rights of clients in premises liability and general liability claims.

Before joining HBS, she worked at other firms in Tampa and New York City. She began her legal career as an Assistant Public Defender in the Office of the Public Defender in the 5th Judicial Circuit in Tavares, Florida, where she successfully tried multiple cases to verdict. Gina earned a J.D. from Barry University School of Law and holds a B.A. in interdisciplinary social sciences with cognates in criminology and sociology from the University of South Florida.

“We are delighted to welcome Frances, Theresa, Alexis and Gina to the HBS team in Tampa. They are highly experienced and will help us to provide stronger service to clients in the health care industry in Central Florida,” said R. Ryan Rivas, a Partner who oversees the firm’s Tampa office.
