Hall Booth Smith Begins Blog to Explore Insurance Coverage Issues

ATLANTA – Hall Booth Smith, P.C. is starting a National Insurance Coverage blog that will explore timely issues and precedent setting cases in property, casualty and specialty coverage.

The blog will be written by the firm’s team of attorneys who have deep expertise representing insurers and insureds at both the state and federal level in a wide range of complex insurance coverage and bad faith issues, including legal opinions, declaratory judgment actions, rescission actions, interpleaders and defense of bad faith claims.

Featuring expert insight and commentary on current cases, rulings and other actions that may have implications for future claims, the blog will also offer actionable advice and recommendations on matters that affect insurers and insureds.

“The National Insurance Coverage blog will be a great avenue to inform our clients as we analyze and explore major news and developments in disputes and litigation that have significant repercussions in how coverage cases are decided,” said C. Michael “Mike” Johnson, a Partner HBS’s Atlanta office who has been building a national complex insurance litigation practice for 35 years and will oversee the blog.

“Our goal is to single out developments that are worthy of being brought to the attention of insurers, insureds and internal risk management teams at companies, governments and institutions of all sizes.”

HBS’s National Insurance Coverage group handles matters across a broad spectrum of liability risks at the primary, excess and umbrella level, including CGL, professional services and E&O, environmental, warehouse legal, motor carrier and auto, premises liability, marine P&I and manuscript policies.

Attorneys at HBS provide coverage guidance and have litigated a wide variety of property coverage matters including business income and extra expense disputes involving building, crane and tunnel collapses, major loss fires and manufacturing plant explosions, OCIP/CCIP losses, hurricane damage to hotels and condos, maritime hull and cargo losses, fine arts losses and loss or destruction of electronic data.

Many of the attorneys in HBS’s National Insurance Coverage group worked for insurance companies earlier in their careers, bringing first-hand knowledge and expertise to client matters.
