Hall Booth Smith congratulates John E. Parkerson on his promotion as Hungary’s Honorary Consul General

Hall Booth Smith, P.C. (HBS) would like to congratulate John E. Parkerson of HBS, on his promotion from Honorary Consul to the position of Honorary Consul General to Georgia and Tennessee by the Hungarian government effective May 16, 2014. Mr. Parkerson also serves as Hungary’s Honorary Foreign Economic Counselor, a post he has held since July 2013.
As Honorary Consul General of Hungary and its Honorary Foreign Economic Counselor, Mr. Parkerson’s primary responsibilities are to assist companies and business persons in Georgia and Tennessee with establishing commercial and trade ties with Hungarian counterparts, and to promote cultural, educational and other contacts between the southeastern US and Hungary.  He also assists with consular authentications, notarizations, authentication of legal documents and provides basic information regarding passport administration, visas and citizenship.

At HBS, Mr. Parkerson’s  practice is international business law.  His particular expertise is dealing with foreign commercial transactions of all kinds: distribution, agency, licensing, strategic alliances, joint ventures, and international compliance. Prior to HBS, from 1993 until 2008, Mr. Parkerson was part of the international practice group within Delta Air Lines Inc.’s law department. He currently is an adjunct professor at Emory Law School and is a past director of international studies at Clayton State University. He also is the immediate past president of the World Trade Center Atlanta.
