Hall Booth Smith, P.C. is excited to welcome Danielle Hughes and Raymond (Ray) Hunter as of counsel in the firm’s Red Bank, NJ office. These additions follow the addition of Julia Klein in Red Bank earlier this year and mark the firm’s continued growth in New Jersey with 22 attorneys across its offices statewide.

About Danielle Hughes

Danielle brings nearly 25 years of legal practice in New Jersey and New York to the firm, and focuses her practice on general liability, premises liability, appellate and professional malpractice. For over 14 years, she practiced with a local firm handling a wide range of general liability matters. During her tenure, Danielle litigated numerous cases from inception through resolution and argued a landmark premises liability case—J.H. v. R&M Tagliareni, 239 N.J. 198 (2019)—before the New Jersey Supreme Court. 

Danielle also has experience in insurance defense, premises liability, professional malpractice, motor vehicle claims, contract disputes and insurance coverage issues. She is skilled in risk analysis, risk transfer strategies and negotiation of settlement agreements. Most recently, Danielle served as senior counsel at a law firm, where she led the firm’s reputation management and privacy solutions practices. Her work concentrated on criminal and civil expungements, online content removal, name changes and privacy rights. She was instrumental in expanding the firm’s reach into New York State for record sealing and certificates of relief and developing the firm’s clemency practice. 

Outside of her private practice, Danielle has been recognized for her work to promote access to justice, including the Legal Services of New Jersey’s Equal Justice Awards medal in 2023 and 2025 and its Major Contributor of Service award in 2023.

Originally from Yonkers, New York, Danielle earned her Juris Doctor magna cum laude from Pace University School of Law. While at Pace, she was a Dean’s Scholar, a member of the Pace Law Review and received a merit scholarship. She completed her undergraduate education at the College of William and Mary, where she served as captain of the Women’s Rowing Team.

 

About Ray Hunter

Residing just outside of Philadelphia, Ray brings 24 years of legal experience to his role as of counsel in the HBS Red Bank, NJ office. He practices in the areas of premises liability, general liability, product liability and contract disputes. 

Prior to joining HBS, Ray worked as a partner in a mid-size defense firm where he handled a variety of general liability matters, specializing in representation of commercial property owners/lessees and their insurers in casualty and contract litigation, and handling product liability actions on behalf of trucking companies and furniture manufacturers and their insurers. Ray also has extensive experience representing railroad corporations in personal injury actions filed by employees, licensees/vendors and trespassers.

Outside of his professional career, Ray actively served on the Board of Directors of the Brandywine Youth Club and volunteered as a coach in several youth basketball sports programs in southeastern Pennsylvania. 

Ray earned his Juris Doctorate from the Villanova University and received his Bachelor of Science, cum laude, from Northern Arizona University.
