HBS Hosts 7th Annual Pig Roast to Support Atlanta Community Food Bank

Hall Booth Smith, P.C. (HBS) hosted its 7th Annual Pig Roast to benefit the Atlanta Community Food Bank on January 29th  at the Georgia Railroad Freight Depot in Atlanta. Over 700 guests, including many state and local leaders, gathered to support the Atlanta Community Food Bank as they enjoyed outstanding food, entertaining music, and excellent fellowship.

The Pig Roast, first held in the spring of 2007, was started by John Hall, Drew Graham, Scott Henwood, and Brad Carver. The event, originally envisioned to be a get-together for HBS’s clients and friends, has grown into a major social event, attracting state-wide elected officials, members of the Georgia General Assembly, and members of the judicial branch. This year’s event featured a number of esteemed guests, including Founder of Atlanta Community Food Bank Bill Bolling, Georgia Secretary of State and Commissioner of Securities Brian P. Kemp, Commissioner of Insurance Ralph Hudgens, Agriculture Commissioner Gary Black, Insurance Commissioner Ralph Hudgens, PSC Commissioner Bubba McDonald, over 100 members of the General Assembly, our Presiding Justice and next Chief Justice Hugh Thompson, almost all of our Georgia Court of Appeals Judges, many Superior and State Court judges, President of the Atlanta City Council Ceasar Mitchell, Fulton County Commissioner Liz Hausman, former Atlanta City Council President, candidate for Fulton Chairman and now Fulton County Election Board Member, Mary Norwood, among many other notables including a number of mayors, county commissioners, and city council members from every corner of the state.

Brad Carver, who serves as Partner and Senior Managing Director of HBS Government Affairs, is proud of this annual tradition, calling the Pig Roast “a great opportunity to connect the folks at the Food Bank with our state-wide elected officials, members of the General Assembly, and members of the Judiciary while supporting Atlanta’s hungry.”

Since 2008, the Pig Roast has sponsored the Atlanta Community Food Bank. HBS is proud to sponsor this and several other events to benefit the Food Bank’s efforts to eliminate hunger. For every dollar donated by participants at events such as the Pig Roast, the Atlanta Community Food Bank distributes $8.47 worth of grocery products to the community. HBS is very proud of our long-term relationship with the Atlanta Community Food Bank. Brad Carver says, “This event symbolizes HBS’s commitment to public service.” The firm encourages its attorneys and staff to be active participants within the community through philanthropy and volunteerism.

Hall Booth Smith, P.C. wishes to extend its thanks to the wonderful guests who made the 7th Annual Pig Roast the most successful to date.  We look forward to seeing you at the Hunger Walk/Run on March 10, 2013, as we continue to help feed the hungry in Atlanta.
