Abernethy New Partner at Hall Booth Smith

Hall Booth Smith P.C. has named Kevin Abernethy a partner in the Atlanta-based law firm.

With a practice that concentrates on high exposure cases, Abernethy has represented the city of Atlanta in civil rights claims. He also has handled complex environmental lawsuits, corporate suits and claims involving professional negligence.

Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle appointed Abernethy to the State Ethics Commission in 2010, which has since been renamed the Georgia Government Transparency and Campaign Finance Commission. He has served as the commission’s chairman since 2011.

Abernethy also served a three-year term on the board of the Superior Court Clerks Retirement Fund of Georgia, which has oversight of a multimillion-dollar investment portfolio.

He earned his law degree from the Georgia State University College of Law in 2005.
