Robert Williams and Andrew Knowlton Join Hall Booth Smith

Hall Booth Smith, P.C. is delighted to announce Robert L. Williams has joined its Birmingham office as a partner and Andrew Knowlton has joined as an associate.
Williams, partner, concentrates his practice in defending hospitals, physicians, nursing homes, and other healthcare providers’ and insurers’ professional liability claims matters. He is a frequent speaker on medical malpractice, personal injury and wrongful death litigation and is a member of the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association and the Defense Research Institute.
His litigation practice also includes other professional liability matters, surplus lines and reinsurance issues, and defense of personal injury and wrongful death claims. Williams completed bachelor and master degrees at Auburn University, and earned his J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law.
Knowlton is an associate in HBS’s Birmingham office, with a litigation practice focused on defense of physicians, nurses, hospitals and other healthcare providers in addition to defense of personal injury and wrongful death claims. He is a member of the Public Affairs Research Council of Alabama (PARCA) and an inaugural member of the Judge James Edwin Horton Inn of Court.
He holds a bachelor’s in political science, summa cum laude, from Auburn University and earned his J.D. from Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law, where he received the Scholar of Merit Award in Advanced Skills in Trial Advocacy.
“We are thrilled to have Robert and Andrew join the HBS team in our Birmingham office,” said David Proctor, managing partner of the Birmingham office. “They bring decades of litigation experience, especially in the field of medical malpractice defense. We look forward to growing this office with well-respected and talented attorneys such as them.”
Late last year, Hall Booth Smith relocated its Birmingham office to the 15-story Renasant Place office tower at 2001 Park Place North in the heart of downtown Birmingham’s central business district.
