Stephanie McDonald Joins Hall Booth Smith’s Brunswick Office as Of Counsel

Hall Booth Smith, P.C. welcomes attorney Stephanie McDonald as Of Counsel in the firm’s Brunswick, Georgia office.

McDonald brings a diverse legal practice to the firm ranging from trial work in insurance defense, family law, criminal defense and personal injury law. She has extensive pre-trial and jury trial experience spanning two decades in federal and state court for both civil and criminal defense matters. Her federal criminal cases have been in both an appointed capacity and a privately retained capacity.

Earlier in her career, McDonald was appointed by the Chief Federal District Court judge as the Federal Criminal Justice Act (CJA) District Representative for the state of South Dakota for seven years, where she acted as a liaison between the federal court, federal public defender and CJA attorneys to improve legal representation for indigent federal defendants.

During that time, she worked on the official revision of the South Dakota CJA Plan for 2008-2009 and participated in the national annual CJA Conference. She also served on the Federal Rules Committee, Family Law Committee and the South Dakota Trial Lawyers Board of Governors.

McDonald has been recognized for her trial work through awards including the Super Lawyers Rising Star, Top 100 Trial Attorneys by the South Dakota Trial Lawyers Association, and Top 100 Trial Attorneys in South Dakota by the American Trial Lawyers Association.

McDonald earned a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of South Dakota.

In addition to her work as an attorney, McDonald is the Treasurer and past Social Co-Chair of the Glynn County Bar Association, and is a member of the Golden Isles Chamber of Commerce.

“We warmly welcome Stephanie to our HBS family and are excited to have her representing our clients,” said Alex Booth, managing partner of HBS.
